APLNG embarks on process control data project – software

Australia Pacific LNG has embarked on a project to integrate its production and asset management data to create real-time visualizations of its operations.

APLNG is a multi-billion dollar joint venture gas project in Queensland, involving Origin, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec.

The company will use Honeywell Process Solutions’ Intuition Executive software to integrate process data sources and create real-time visualizations of plant data.

The APLNG also plans to use a specific Coal Seam Gas operations monitoring add-on, also created by Honeywell, for “data consolidation, analysis and reporting”.

The deployment represents a significant expansion of Honeywell process systems at APLNG sites.

Last November, Bechtel – the engineering company commissioned by APLNG for the plant and infrastructure works – contracted Honeywell to supply integrated control and safety systems for the project.

This contract covered the supply of a Honeywell Experion distributed process control system and various safety, fire and security components.

The project covers the development of coal gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins and a gas transmission pipeline to an LNG facility under development on Curtis Island in Gladstone.

The facility will convert coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas for transportation.

The project is funded in two installments. A financial investment decision on the first phase was issued in July of last year, for an amount of approximately $ 14 billion.
